New patients will require a referral letter from your family doctor or optometrist in order for us to book your initial visit.

​Returning patients no longer require a re-referral if it has been more than six months since your last visit, unless otherwise specified by your family doctor.

**If you wear contact lenses, please do not wear these on the day of your appointment. Bring your glasses instead

For every visit, please have the following with you to ensure a smooth check-in process:

• Your Health Care ID Card

• An up-to-date medication list, eye drops, and any allergies you may have

• Any glasses you need for distance or driving

• A translator, if needed

If you are scheduled to see the doctor the same day, please allow up to two hours. Your visit may be shorter than this, depending on clinic volume that day.

Appointments limited to visual field testing or specific eye measurements typically last about 30 minutes.

A complete eye examination usually requires your eyes to be fully dilated.

The effects usually last 1.5 to 2 hours. In general, we advise patients to arranging transportation as driving is not recommended while the eyes are dilated.

The doctor will evaluate and discuss with you whether surgery is appropriate for your condition.

If you are a good candidate, the details of the procedure will be explained, and our office will arrange a meeting with the surgical counsellor prior to your surgery.

Routine eye exams are generally recommended every one to two years, depending on your age and eye health.

Untreated eye conditions can lead to permanent vision loss, so please contact us if you notice new or changing visual symptoms.
