Frequently Asked Question (FAQ)

We hope to answer some of the most common questions asked by our patients about our treatment process in the list below

How do I make an appointment?

You will need a referral letter from your family doctor or optometrist. If you are a returning patient, you will generally require a re-referral if it has been more than six months since your last visit, unless specified by your family doctor in a previous referral letter.

What do I need to bring to the appointment?

You will need:

  • Care Card

  • Medication list, eye drops, medication allergy

  • Glasses (reading glasses included)

  • A translator if needed

How long will the appointment take?

If you are scheduled to see the doctor that day, the appointment may take up to 2 to 2.5 hours. For patients only doing testing and eye measurements, the visit will be approximately 30 minutes.

Will I be dilated at my appointment?

Yes, it would be best if your eyes were dilated to allow the doctor to check for any eye problems, so driving is not advised. If you absolutely must drive, we can make some exceptions, but the check-up will be less effective.

What if I require surgery?

The doctor will assess your condition to determine whether you are a surgical candidate. If eligible, the surgeon will go over the details of the procedure you require, and our office will schedule a meeting for you to speak with our surgical counsellor.

How often do I need an eye exam?

Regular eye exams are generally recommended every one to two years for older patients. Left untreated, certain ocular diseases can result in potentially irreversible visual changes. If you are concerned or experiencing new visual symptoms, please feel free to contact our office to arrange an appointment.
