Eyelid Surgery/Blepharoplasty
Blepharoplasty is a surgical operation for correcting any defects or deformities of the eyelids, or for aesthetically modifying the eye region of the face. What are the different types of treatment?
The procedure is typically performed via surgical incisions made along the creases of the upper and lower eyelids, which help hide the surgical scars.
Should I undergo this procedure?
To know whether or not you should undergo the procedure, your ophthalmologist will review your medical and surgical histories, as well as conduct a physical examination of the potential surgical zone. Depending on the findings and the feasibility to resolve the functional and aesthetic issues presented by the patient, your ophthalmologist may or may not recommend this procedure.
What can I expect after treatment and how long will it take to recover?
After the surgery has been completed, the surgeon will place a stitch inside the tissue of the lower eyelid, which will allow the eyelid to remain in a fixed position during the healing process. After four to six weeks, the stitch will dissolve safely.
